Comprehensive Treatment Planning

Many dentists and patients alike fail to consider the long-term when making decisions about their dental care. How often does a dentist complete a quick exam, tell the assistant the patient “needs” three fillings and walks out of the room only to have the assistant quote a fee and make the next appointment?

All of the patients under the care of Dr. Smith have a full examination, with radiographs (X-rays) and any other needed diagnostic studies. Dr. Smith then has an unrushed discussion with the patient about where that patient is health-wise, and where they’re headed.

Preventing future damage by recognizing and controlling harmful habits or just improving brushing and flossing to prevent periodontal (gum) disease may be discussed. Any needed treatment options are considered, with the expected longevity of the treatment always being discussed.

No one dentist is equipped to perform all dental specialties, as well as the best dental specialists. If you require something that is not in the realm of general dentistry, Dr. Smith will suggest a specialist with whom he knows will fulfill your individual needs, and the office will co-ordinate your care with that specialist’s office.
